The Sportster is the original Harley Davidson performance motorcycle which was first released way back in 1957. There have been many engineering advances since then and the modern day Evo Sportster engine encompasses the best modern technology which allows this engine to be taken to a serious performance level. Better pushrod geometry than the big twins and gear driven cams permit safer and higher RPM limits. In my opinion the world leaders in Sportster performance technology are Hammer Performance in the States. Dan Norlin and the team there have recently released their new steel lined 1275cc cylinders that come with CP forged pistons and they fit directly into the stock 1991 to present 883 and 1200 cases. I can now offer Sportster performance builds featuring these kits complete with cams and head work options.
